Who are we?
Enlightened Events is an educational event company dedicated to building environmental and social awareness. Through the creation of fun, informative, and interactive events, we strive to increase the adoption of sustainable practices by both businesses and consumers.
What do we do and how?
At Enlightened Events, we focus on creating events for both the community and corporations. We believe that in order for the world to become a cleaner, healthier, and fairer place, positive sustainable changes have to be made by both businesses and consumers.
At our community events, we aim to assist attendees screen through all the “green” marketing that has emerged over the past few years. By being mindful of what they buy and who they buy it from, consumers can reduce their environmental impact and leverage the most influential ability that they have: purchasing power. As each dollar is spent on sustainable goods and services, a clear and direct message is sent to all businesses: change or lose out.
At our corporate events, we aim to assist businesses by linking innovative sustainable solutions to their businesses needs. By helping businesses become more sustainable, they will: reduce energy use; reduce and eliminate waste output and toxicity; use renewable resources for energy and product material; employ fair and ethical labour; and sell to local and regional markets. In the end, these businesses become more efficient, more marketable, and more profitable.
Our Commitment:
We believe our company should employ the same practices that we advocate. Thus, as part of our operations, we include the following practices:
- Use of Green renewable energy at all of our events
- Use of sustainable marketing material, including: the use of 100% recycled FSC certified paper; low VOC / vegetable based inks; use of non-vinyl banners
- Procurement of the most sustainable businesses as exhibitors and/or sponsors, with a preference on local businesses.
- Reduction of paper use in the office, with a goal to become paperless in 2009.
